Jewelry Blackening

From time to time, customers ask us not to blacken a piece and to leave it in its “pure” silver color, and we gently try to persuade them otherwise.

The reason is that absolutely all of our pieces are oxidized. It is part of the production process, just like polishing. The darkened areas create shadows that highlight the details and texture of each item.

We pay great attention to how a piece looks as a whole, and sometimes elements that are not immediately noticeable play an important role in the overall perception. These subtle details become visible precisely through decorative blackening, such as intentionally textured backgrounds, fine ornamental lines, or the wrinkles on the faces of Witcher medallions.

Patina is a natural oxidation process that happens over time when silver gets darker. We simply speed up this process to make the jewelry piece more eye-catching.

A piece without blackening may appear visually brighter, but in our view, it also looks flatter. However, it is still possible to make it without oxidation. Ultimately, if the customer’s decision is firm, we are always happy to accommodate their request.
